I remember the first time I heard David Byrne sing, “This ain’t no party!” in the classic song, “Life During Wartime.” It was one of those songs that you heard over and over with that catchy, punk rocking, ass kicking beat. “This ain’t no disco! This ain’t no fooling around! No time for dancing, or lovey dovey, I ain’t got time for that now.”
Seeing the Talking Heads perform this song in a historical theatre with my buddy who introduced me to the band is still one of my favorite concert memories. And, I’ve seen a lot of concerts. We had so much fun. Can’t wait to see some live music very soon.
Google the lyrics to the song and try to argue with someone who claims that David Byrne is a visionary. Lord Have Mercy. He saw bits of 2020 when he wrote that song. All these years later and the words take on a new meaning. This certainly ain’t no party when you think of the countless souls who are suffering in pain as I type these words. We send Reiki to all of them.
We send Reiki and pray for the families. The loved ones. The neighbors. The co-workers. The former co-workers. The sick. The elderly. The innocent children. The young minds trying to figure out this thing called “Life” at such an early age. We pray for the lonely. For the mentally unstable. We pray for the prisoners of all kinds in their cold, rusty cages of separation and desperation.
We pray for everyone. For all living things. We pray for all souls. We send our loving energy filled with hope to a day when we will dance again at a party or a disco. In the meantime, take care of yourself. God Bless You. I wish you peace and happiness during this challenging time.
