I never saw the last 10 years coming. See, at one time, I didn’t think I would make it to 50 years old. I’ll be 60 in October. Ten years ago, I set the drink down and learned how to put someone else’s needs ahead of my own. The humbling, life changing experience that included things like making coffee for a roomful of people, changed my life. So many incredible people helped me when I was just getting started on this new way of living. A heartfelt Thank You to my brothers and sisters in every AA room in the world. God Bless All of You.

Ten years is a long time. I found God in an AA room. That’s when things started happening for me that I never could have imagined. My sponsor taught me how to begin and end each day on my knees in prayer. Thank You John. You are the man. Now, I sometimes hit my knees in the middle of the day too. How may I serve? I couldn’t believe it the first time I heard those words. I will always volunteer for service work. Doesn’t matter what it is. Count me in.

I discovered Reiki roughly 7-8 years ago. So, there’s been a lot of shifts and transformations take place over the last 10 years. “Ten years burnin’ down the road…” is one of my all time favorite lyrics written by Bruce Springsteen in “Born in the U.S.A.” It seemed like an appropriate time to throw a little Bruce into a Reiki article.

At 59, my take is this – Every day is a gift. Just for today, do not worry, do not anger and be kind to others. Live in gratitude. Believe in a Higher Power greater than yourself. 10 years can go by in a flash. May your decade be one of growth and prosperity. Thank You Mikao Usui for the Reiki precepts.
