Today, a new client came to see me for her first Reiki treatment. She plans to take a Reiki class in May. She wanted to meet me before then, and experience Reiki for the first time. “It seemed like the thing to do,” she said. I told her how much I respected her approach, and looked forward to having her in class. As she got off of the treatment table, she said, “That was interesting.”

We have a lot of interesting things happen on our treatment table, so I asked her to please elaborate. She said, “It was like waves and waves of relaxation.” She said she didn’t realize how tense she was until she rode the Reiki wave. “I would get relaxed, and then more relaxed, and then even more relaxed. Waves is the best way I can describe it.” Very good description.

Reiki reduces stress while it promotes healing and wellness. It’s stress reducing qualities are like nothing I’ve ever experienced before, and the woman mentioned earlier, agrees with me. We can all get so wound up and knotted up with stress, that we forget what it feels like to be relaxed.

Reiki is a gentle reminder, and will have you asking, “Why did I wait so long for a treatment?” When we’re stressed, we tell ourselves we are too busy to add anything new to our schedules. God forbid we take some time out to reduce the stress in our lives. Self-nurturing is so important, and is time well spent.

By the way, speaking of waves… The photo that accompanies this article was not altered by any means. I sat behind my wife, and was giving her Reiki on the beach in Malibu. I stopped for a minute. She said, “What are you doing?” I said, “It’s so beautiful. I just want to look at it.” I took this photo and the energy from the Reiki treatment is pretty obvious with the wavy waves. Groovy.
