Anyone who knows me understands how passionate I am when it comes to sharing Reiki with seniors. Bringing some stress and pain relief to the many folks I have been able to help is definitely my happy place. Recently, a woman who sees me when I visit her community every month told me what a blessing I was and how she was inviting some of her friends to see me when I return in September. Reiki has helped with her stomach issues, knee pain, lower back pain and insomnia.

Another senior woman discovered the power of Crystal Reiki as she held Rose Quartz in her left hand during her session. Most of her issues are on the left side of her body and she told me how grounded, balanced and loved she felt afterwards. Currently, my rock tumbler is full of Rose Quartz and I will be bringing her some of the crystals when I see her again next month.

Some of the little things I have been doing for seniors include lowering my table and adding a foot stool for ease when getting on and off the table. I meet these wonderful people where they are. If they are more comfortable sitting in a chair or if they are in a wheelchair, I adjust while allowing Reiki to work its’ wonders whether they are lying down or sitting. My #1 goal is their comfort.

Usually, I play soft healing music that was shared with me during my Holy Fire Reiki Master training. However, yesterday a couple of seniors asked for silence instead. They had hearing aids and they preferred receiving the healing energy in silence. That was another little thing that made a big difference.

An eye pillow is something I always offer to anyone who will be lying on the table. They love having this soothing pillow on their closed eyes, especially if they have headaches. Most fall asleep during the session. Yesterday, a senior and I discussed her beginning the session on her back and then turning over roughly thirty minutes later. But, she fell asleep almost instantly and I did not want to wake her up. The night before was a restless one for her and just like always, Reiki delivered what she needed most – a deep, soothing rest.
