I have learned the hard way that forgiveness is a key ingredient to our happiness. At least that has been my experience. Leaving behind old behaviors that no longer serve our highest good can be a life changing experience as we learn to release, let go and even forgive.

We let go of old feelings that we have relived over and over again; every time we choose to think about something that has already happened in the past. We release them and we even forgive those old feelings knowing what triggered them in the first place. But, we release and let go and move forward – lighter and more open to forgiveness for other matters that may come our way.

We learn to forgive and Reiki helps us during this transformation. And, it is a transformation. Forgiveness is certainly not for the timid, but it’s needed by all of us as we do our part not to contribute to the hate that is always so front and center. We learn to forgive. It doesn’t happen overnight. The important thing is that we are on the path. The path to forgiveness, whatever that might look like.

I have heard stories of forgiveness that brought tears to my eyes. People who had suffered unimaginable pain and yet still forgave the guilty ones. These healing souls are so grounded and ready for life on life’s terms. These people are also my heroes and I miss seeing them for in-person Reiki sessions.

People are brutal. We do brutal things when we are full of hate. The pain inflicted by hate is incalculable. But, Love is still the most powerful force on the planet. I have seen the power of Love in action countless times whenever Reiki gets involved with any situation.

Reiki is amazing and always delivers. I have never seen anything else like it. Reiki always brings us what is for our highest good. This healing energy operates at the same higher vibration where forgiveness hangs out. Reiki is love and it helps us forgive. Forgiving myself was a transformation for me. It took me over 60 years to get to that place, but I got there. Better late than never, I guess.

I remember what my Reiki Master said to me after receiving my first Master attunement. As I was leaving her studio after attending her Master Class, she said, “Jeff, be gentle with yourself.” I will always remember that moment because it stopped me in my tracks. I turned around and said, “What did you just say?” It was one of those times when I knew I had heard something important and needed to confirm what I thought I had heard. She said again, “Be gentle with yourself.” I said, “I…will,” hesitating because I didn’t really know what it meant to be gentle with myself. I have always been my biggest critic.

Years later, I understand the wisdom in those simple words. We are gentle with ourselves by using self-Reiki to keep our vibration where it needs to be. We are kind to ourselves and to others too. We forgive others and we forgive ourselves so that we can live the life that we were meant to live, without worry or anger.

Destructive energies like pain cannot handle the brilliant light of Reiki. I have shared Reiki with some who were healing from the darkest of the darkness that a human being could experience during their lifetime. I watched as Reiki and Higher Sources chased pain away that had been carried around for 70 years. Reiki won. Lives were transformed forever. I saw it with my own two eyes.

The woman I am referring to in the paragraph above finally forgave herself and thankfully her life will never be the same. Reiki helped open her third eye and she was able to see her life from a higher level. Then, she was able to forgive herself. She could see more and realized that she was not guilty of anything other than just trying to survive as a young girl. Now, in her 70’s, she can move forward feeling much lighter because the heavy weight she carried around for years was gone. Forgiveness isn’t easy, but it’s so powerful. That’s why we forgive.
