I call it a “Reikation.” Reiki combined with vacation. Before we left, I had received a request for some Distance work from a new client who was concerned about an upcoming procedure. She had given me specific dates to work with, and those days were the beginning of our vacation. I met someone in the Tetons who looked at my card and said, “So your job is helping people and animals by relieving their pain?” Yes. Indeed, it is. I love my job, and the things that happen on a daily basis reinforce the decisions I have made over the last few years to get to this point in my life. I’m loving it. The timing was perfect for this once in a lifetime Reikation.

Another person I met, mentioned me having to “go back to work” after our vacation. Reiki worked its way into the conversation, and her story is one that I will never forget. She lives in Colorado and we will see each other again. Her new little God son that she helped rescue is only three years old. What I heard from this one conversation could easily be an entire book. Dear God, were the two words that kept coming to mind as I listened to this amazing woman and Cancer survivor. God bless the children. They are our future.

She was one of the many incredible people we met during this trip. Reiki came up during conversations where it was so needed. It’s an amazing thing to witness. I never force Reiki on anyone. I don’t need to. It does what it does, and I focus on getting out of the way. When Reiki has a clear channel to work with, anything is possible.

This Reikation was taken one month after my Usui Holy Fire II Reiki Master class in Sedona, Arizona. I have recently spent some time in the West and the Southwest, two areas that I love dearly. I was 6 years old the last time I saw Mount Rushmore, Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. This time I got to see Crazy Horse too, along with Devil’s Tower. These last two additional stops moved me physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. I could feel a new kind of energy that I had not felt before. I didn’t want to leave either place. They both felt like home in their own unique ways. The entire Reikation was like that – Some places more than others. We stopped in many little towns that are scattered throughout the West.

I have always felt at home in the West. I even broke out my rarely worn cowboy hat the day we hung out in Deadwood, South Dakota. Granted, I was wearing shorts, and not some badass leather western gear. But, it still felt like the right thing to do. Deadwood reminded me that our country’s infatuation with killing started a long time ago. But, it really wasn’t that long ago. We are but a blink of an eye in the history books of the World. When I heard we once had as many as 60 million Buffalo roaming the land, my love for these amazing animals grew deeper. I even bought a t-shirt that has only one thing on the front – a closeup of a Buffalo. Long Live Tatonka!

The beauty of Yellowstone and The Grand Tetons humbled me. I am so grateful that I was able to share my love for the West with the Love of my Life. She’s my wife and she’s also my best friend. The Reikation was a healing journey that continues to this day. It’s a beautiful Fall day in Evergreen, Colorado. The sky is like the one that I first fell in love with all those years ago when I was on vacation in Colorado. It’s so good to be home – here in the beautiful Colorado Rockies.

We were without the internet most of the trip. The Colorado Rockies are playing some very exciting baseball and are even in first place. I watched them win another one in the ninth inning last night when we returned home. September baseball is the best when your team is in the hunt. Go Rockies! Without being connected, we were able to savor each and every moment. And, there were many special moments. I’m going to write a book about this entire experience, once I have an opportunity to process everything that has happened in the last week, or even in the last 90 days leading up to this amazing trip. A lot can happen in a few months. I could tell you stories and will one day.

My gratitude runs much deeper after this 2,000+ mile road trip. Because of you, I am a Reiki Master who spends his days sharing Reiki with others through articles like this, classes, events and treatments. My mantra is “Healing is a Team Effort.” It really is a team effort as I work with others on their wellness. We’re a team that is moving in the same direction with the payoff being an improved quality of life. Life needs to be lived not observed. Reiki helps us live the lives we were meant to live.

The first thing Reiki does is “slows down the wheels,” as it heals mentally and emotionally. As mentioned, earlier, when Reiki has a clear channel to operate, anything is possible. After slowing the wheels down, the physical healing follows. Then, if the person is open, spiritual healing takes place as well. This is why it’s a team effort as the recipient of Reiki works with the new energy by first allowing it. I have felt people block the healing love in the past. When that happens, well, nothing really happens. Life goes on – same as it ever was. Thank You David Byrne.

Timing is everything. I wanted to take this vacation for many years. If your timing is not right for your highly desired vacation, simply pause and think about your own personal wellness. Pause. Go outside if possible. Go for a walk. Go for a drive. Look at a map and plot your course. There’s something very rewarding when a good plan comes together. Each and every plan begins with a single thought. Pay attention to your thoughts and remember, sometimes we have to go slow, to go fast. The 80 mph Speed Limit in Wyoming seemed slow at times when I was passed by a car doing well over 80 on Highway 80. But, I packed Reiki for the drive and knew I was in good hands.
